Maximising pallet storage and efficiency with a new SKMX pallet racking system

Premier Storage recently completed a pallet racking installation in Sheffield for a growing food and beverage distribution business. The client required an improved warehouse layout to enhance efficiency and storage capacity. Their existing PSS shelving system, standing at four metres high, was no longer suitable for their operational needs or expanding inventory.

To address this challenge, Premier Storage designed a new warehouse racking setup that would increase picking height and maximise available space. By redesigning the layout and increasing the racking height, the team almost doubled the client’s pallet locations. As a result, the upgraded design significantly improved storage density within the same footprint. Furthermore, it created a safer and more accessible environment for warehouse staff. In turn, the new design supported smoother operations and faster order picking. Overall, this modern approach offered a long-term, space-efficient solution for the client’s growing business.

Day One: Premier Storage began the project with the safe dismantling and removal of the existing shelving. Afterward, the team cleared the area to prepare for the new system, ensuring a smooth transition into the next phase. Consequently, the workspace was fully ready for installation without delay. Moreover, this preparation helped the team maintain efficiency throughout the installation.

Days Two to Four: Using detailed CAD drawings created by Premier Storage, the team installed the new SKMX racking and adjustable pallet racking. In addition, the installation was tailored precisely to the client’s layout and picking requirements. Meanwhile, ongoing safety checks and progress reviews ensured accuracy, compliance, and efficient coordination across all tasks. Moreover, the structured schedule allowed each stage to be completed safely and on time.

Day Five: The team installed anti-collapse mesh netting for additional safety and stability. Finally, a full snagging inspection confirmed quality and compliance before handover. As a result, the client received a system ready for immediate use. Therefore, the project concluded smoothly, meeting all objectives and expectations.
